How to cancel a Bertazzoni dishwasher cycle depends on the model: the cancel, drain or reset step is a control-panel sequence, and our site does not list one for any Bertazzoni dishwasher, so your owner’s manual is the authority. What you can do safely for any model is stop the cycle the way the manual describes, and if the panel does not respond, switch the dishwasher’s breaker off briefly and back on, as the manual allows. Be careful when you open a door during a cycle, because the tub can hold hot water and steam. Do not copy a reset sequence from a different dishwasher; Bertazzoni models and revisions use different controls.
How do you cancel a cycle on a Bertazzoni dishwasher?
First find the instructions for your exact model. The model number is on the rating label, and our dishwasher model number and rating plate guide explains how to read it. Our model pages list six dishwashers, the DW24T3IPT/26, DW24T3IXV, DW24T3IPV, DW24S3IPV, DW18S2IXV and DW18S2IPV, and the controls are not guaranteed to be the same across them, so use the manual that came with yours.
In the manual, look for the section on stopping or canceling a cycle. We cannot tell you which button on your model stops a cycle, and guessing at button combinations is a good way to start a different cycle by mistake. If you do not have the manual, the manufacturer’s support line or a technician can identify the right sequence from your model number.
Is it safe to open the door to stop the dishwasher?
Treat it with care. A dishwasher in the middle of a cycle can contain very hot water and steam, and the spray arms may still be moving. If you must open the door, pause the cycle as the manual describes if you can, wait a moment, open the door slowly and stand back from the steam. Keep children and pets away, and be careful of the heating element and the rack. Do not reach into the tub while it is running.
If there is a leak and you need the dishwasher stopped quickly, switch off the breaker for the dishwasher from a dry spot and close the water supply stop under the sink, then mop up. Our water leaking page covers that symptom.

How do you cancel a delay start on a Bertazzoni dishwasher?
A delay start is set from the control panel, and it is canceled from the control panel as well. The sequence depends on the model, and we found no page on our site that describes it, so follow the manual’s steps for delay or canceling a delayed cycle. If you start a new cycle on top of a delay by mistake, stopping the cycle first and then starting again is the cleanest way to put things right. Avoid leaving the dishwasher with the door open and a delay pending, because the machine will not run until the door is closed and latched.
How do you reset a Bertazzoni dishwasher that will not respond?
If the buttons do nothing or the display is frozen, try a power reset. Switch the breaker feeding the dishwasher off, wait a short while, and switch it back on. Then give the panel a moment to start and try the cancel or start step again. This clears a confused control; it does not fix a part that has failed.
If a button seems stuck, that is a documented fault on some models. Our Bertazzoni dishwasher error codes guide lists E9 on the DW24PR control sheet as a button pressed for more than 30 seconds, meaning a key is stuck, wet or leaned on, and Ed as the display losing contact with the board. The same page warns that E1, E4, E8, E9 and Ed come from the DW24PR and DW24XT control sheets, so match the code to the model plate before you act on it. Do not carry a code meaning to a different model.
What if the dishwasher still will not stop or start?
Several different problems look like a cycle you cannot cancel. A door that does not latch will stop a cycle from starting; see our door will not latch page. A cycle that stops partway has its own page on cycle stops, and water left in the tub after a canceled cycle is covered in not draining. Work through the checks on our dishwasher troubleshooting checklist and write down what you see.
Take a photo of the display message and the rating label, and note when the problem occurs. If a message returns after a reset, or water sits in the tub, that points to a part such as the pump, a switch or the board. Do not open the base, the panels or the wiring; those areas sit next to mains power and the water line.
When should you call a technician?
Call if the dishwasher will not stop with the manual’s method and a power reset, if a message comes back, if water is left in the tub or leaks from the base, or if you see sparks, smell burning or find the breaker tripping. In those cases switch the breaker off from a dry spot, close the water supply and leave the rest to a technician. Our Bertazzoni dishwasher repair page explains how a visit works.
